Westgate Group, the leading distributor and processor of Stainless Steel, Aluminium and Copper Alloys are marking their 10th anniversary by investing in brand new cutting facilities for their Aldridge site.
Director of Westgate Group, Darren Gould stated: “Westgate Group has a growing customer base requiring material supplied part processed and ready to use. We are aiming to grow this area of the business, hence the investment in new cutting facilities, for both Aluminium and Stainless Steel. Providing solutions for our customer’s material requirements is how the business has always moved forward.”
He added: “The investment has already enabled us to offer cost benefits to some existing customers, and secure new business through our enhanced resources. A notable example being an order for the supply of stainless steel balustrades to the retail sector, worth in excess of £100,000.”
Westgate were established in 2006, and offer processes such as laser cutting, tube sawing, polishing and coating services from their warehouse in Aldridge.
The Group’s portfolio diversified in 2011, following the creation of Westgate Coil & Processing, who are an independent supplier of Stainless Steel Slit Coil & Temper Rolled material, processed to the highest quality to the customers own specification.
The Group was expanded further in 2014 with the addition of Westgate Aluminium Extrusion, who specialise in the supply & distribution of bespoke, customer specific Aluminium profiles.
Their diversification process has led to continued growth, as Gould explained: “We found that manufacturers were looking for a company that offers service, reliability and cost. Ten years since being just two people working out of a small office, we are now operating from a 20’000sq/ft site, with over £600,000 of stock. There are now 13 people here and we have a turnover across three companies in excess of £5m a year, so that is a great achievement for us.”
Westgate’s dedicated sales team is one of the most experienced in the UK, offer a professional and friendly approach backed up by technical advice where needed from enquiry through to order & supply. Customer satisfaction is a key aspect of the business, which has helped to drive the business towards reaching their landmark 10th anniversary.
Gould continued: “We are flexible and competitive, and have always kept the customer needs at heart. We offer alternative solutions to companies supply needs and are dynamic in how we deliver them. Westgate offer support in planning, costing and supply. You can’t differentiate between the same metal, so it is all just about offering different service solutions, and trying to help customers with procurement issues, delivery or sourcing material that they are struggling with.”
When the company purchased the Aldridge site in 2014 their ambition was not only to increase their Stock range and profile, but to add to their growing commercial staff. This they did with the employ of a Pipe and fittings specialist in 2015. They also intend to take on their first ‘apprentice’ within the next few months.
Gould concluded: “To celebrate ten years as a business, we took the staff white water rafting. It was a really fun day, and is something I’m sure we’ll be repeating. We are very proud to have achieved this landmark during a very testing economic climate and would like to thank our customers and suppliers for their continued support.”
